Lagos State University (LASU) has achieved a remarkable feat by emerging as the best university in Sub-Saharan Africa in the 2024 Universitas Indonesia (UI) GreenMetric World University Rankings. This prestigious ranking is a testament to LASU’s commitment to sustainability and excellence in education.
LASU retains its position as the best university in Nigeria for the third consecutive year (2022-2024). The university jumps to 23rd position in Africa, up from 25th in the previous year. LASU improves its global ranking to 709th, up from 761st in 2023.

The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings is a reputable global ranking system that assesses the sustainability performance of institutions worldwide. This year’s ranking features 1,477 institutions across 95 countries, making it one of the most comprehensive and credible global university ranking systems.
This achievement is a testament to LASU’s consistent excellence in education and sustainability. Earlier this year, the university emerged as the second most subscribed university in Nigeria by admission seekers in the 2024 Joint Admission and Matriculation Board Examination. LASU is also recognized as the most digitally advanced state university in Nigeria and the AD Scientific Index Ranking first choice State institution in the country.
