JAMB ACTIVATES 2025 CAPS PORTAL

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially activated the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) portal for the 2025 admission year. This means that all candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) can now log in to their profiles, check their results, monitor their admission status, and accept or reject admission offers.

If you are a student, a parent, or a guardian, this guide will help you understand everything about CAPS — from what it is, how to use it, and why it is very important for the admission process in Nigeria.

What is the JAMB CAPS Portal?

CAPS stands for Central Admissions Processing System. It is an online platform created by JAMB to help manage and automate the admission process into all tertiary institutions in Nigeria, including:

  • Universities
  • Polytechnics
  • Colleges of Education
  • Innovation Enterprise Institutions

Before CAPS was created, the admission process in Nigeria had many problems — some candidates got admission without writing UTME, while some deserving students were left out. There was also a lot of corruption and manual errors. But with CAPS, JAMB made the system more transparent, fast, and fair.

What You Can Do On The CAPS Portal

Once JAMB activates the CAPS portal, candidates can do several important things. Here are some of them:

1. Check Admission Status

  • You can know if a school has offered you admission. CAPS shows your real-time admission status and updates automatically.

2. Accept or Reject Admission

  • Once a school offers you admission, JAMB gives you the power to either accept or reject the offer. If you accept, the process ends there. If you reject, your space will be given to someone else, and you may wait for another offer from another school.

3. View Your O’level Results

  • CAPS allows you to check if your WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB results have been uploaded successfully. If not, you may not be considered for admission.

4. Change of Course or Institution

  • You can apply for change of course or institution (if allowed by JAMB), directly through the portal or at a JAMB-accredited CBT center.

5. Monitor School Decisions

  • You can see when schools recommend you for admission, when JAMB approves it, and whether your admission is being processed or delayed.

How to Check Your CAPS Profile

Here is a simple guide on how to access your CAPS dashboard using your phone or computer:

Step 1: Visit the JAMB e-Facility portal

Go to: https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng

Step 2: Login with your details

  • Enter your email address
  • Enter your password (These are the same details you used during JAMB registration.)

Step 3: Click on “Check Admission Status”

Step 4: Click on “Access My CAPS”

  • You will be redirected to your CAPS dashboard.

Step 5: Explore the options

From here, you can:

  • Check admission status
  • Accept/reject admission
  • View institutions that considered you
  • Check O’level result status

Important Sections on CAPS

Here are some key tabs you’ll see on your CAPS dashboard and what they mean:

Tab What it Means

  • Admission Status Shows whether you’ve been offered admission
  • Marketplace Where schools can pick from qualified candidates
  • Transfer Approval If a school wants to transfer you to a different course
  • O’Level Result Shows whether your O’Level results have been uploaded
  • Accept/Reject Offer Where you approve or decline the admission.

What You Must Do Now

If you wrote the 2025 UTME, you should act fast and take these steps:

1. Check Your CAPS Regularly

  • Don’t wait for someone to tell you. Check every few days to see if you’ve been offered admission.

2. Upload Your O’level Result

  • If your WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB result is not on your profile, you may not be offered admission even if you meet all other requirements. Visit any JAMB-accredited CBT center to upload it.

3. Accept or Reject Admission Quickly

  • Once a school gives you admission, you have a limited time to accept it. If you delay, the offer may be withdrawn.

4. Do Change of Course or Institution (If Necessary)

  • Some schools may not pick you for the course you applied for. If that happens, you can apply to another course that still has space.

What Schools Are Doing on CAPS

All Nigerian tertiary institutions are required to use CAPS. They log in to the portal to:

  • Upload lists of students they want to admit
  • Choose qualified candidates
  • Request approval from JAMB
  • Notify students through CAPS

If you see that your status is still “Not Admitted”, don’t panic. It may mean the school hasn’t started uploading names or your name hasn’t been picked yet.

Transfer of Courses on CAPS

Sometimes, a school may decide to offer you a different course than the one you applied for. For example, if you applied for Medicine but the competition is too high, they may transfer you to Anatomy or Biology.

When this happens:

  • You will see a Transfer Approval notice.
  • You must accept the transfer on CAPS before you can get final admission.
  • If you ignore it or reject it, you may miss out on admission.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. I checked CAPS, and it says “Not Admitted.” What does it mean?

  • It means you haven’t been offered admission yet. Keep checking. Schools release names in batches.

2. I was offered a course I didn’t apply for. What should I do?

  • You can either accept it and secure your admission or reject it and wait for another offer — but there’s no guarantee of getting another offer.

3. My O’Level result is not showing. What should I do?

  • Go to a JAMB CBT center and upload your WAEC/NECO result again. Without it, your admission will not be processed.

4. I forgot my password. How do I log in?

  • Click on “Forgot Password” on the JAMB portal and follow the instructions to reset it.

Final Words

The activation of the JAMB CAPS portal for 2025 is a major step in the admission process. Every candidate should take it seriously and follow the process step by step.

Remember:

  • Check your CAPS regularly.
  • Upload your results if needed.
  • Accept admission immediately once offered.
  • Don’t fall for fraud — JAMB does not require payment to access CAPS.
  • May your name be on the merit list of your dream school!
