UNILAG Insists Post-UTME Malpractice Detections Were Authentic, Dismisses Glitch Claims

The University of Lagos has dismissed circulating insinuations that the recent Post-UTME screening exercise was marred by system errors or technical glitches.  

In a statement signed by the Head of the Communication Unit, Adejoke R. Alaga-Ibraheem, the University clarified that the notification of examination malpractice issued after the screening exercise, which held from September 1 to 4, 2025, was based on genuine violations of established examination rules.  

According to the statement, candidates flagged for malpractice were detected through “multiple monitoring mechanisms, including secure video surveillance,” which ensured the credibility of the exercise.  

The management further stressed that uncensored video recordings will not be made public in line with data protection laws, though limited anonymised screenshots may be released to illustrate the nature of the infractions.  

Students and parents were urged to disregard unverified claims on social media and rely strictly on official communication channels of the University.  

Reiterating its stand, UNILAG assured that it remains committed to integrity, fairness, and transparency in the admissions process, and will not be swayed by “conjectures or misinformation.”
