The management of Lagos State University (LASU) has issued an official disclaimer concerning a viral video titled “Bandits Prank on Lasuites”, published by Datreez Entertainment TV on Friday, December 5, 2025.
The clip, which featured individuals dressed in alarming outfits and seen entering the campus with various equipment, created tension and fear among members of the university community.
In a statement released on Sunday, December 7, 2025, the university made it clear that no approval was granted for the production or recording of such a video on LASU grounds. The institution described the action as a direct violation of its rules guiding media activities on campus.
LASU strongly condemned the circulation of any material or behavior that depicts banditry, terrorism, or violent conduct — especially in light of current national security concerns. The management emphasized that acts capable of causing panic or disrupting the peace within the university will not be tolerated.
The institution further reassured students, staff, and the wider public of its commitment to ensuring a secure and conducive learning environment. Community members were encouraged to remain alert and report any suspicious behavior immediately to the LASU Security Unit.
The statement was signed by Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemisi A., Deputy Registrar and Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations, reaffirming the university’s dedication to the safety and wellbeing of everyone on campus.
