Lagos State University (LASU) has been honoured as the Most Digitally Innovative Nigerian University of the Year 2025, an award presented by The Octagon Media Group. This recognition further strengthens LASU’s fast-rising profile as a forward-thinking institution committed to technology-driven education.
The award was conferred during The Octagon Media Group’s 12th Anniversary and Champions Awards Ceremony, held on Thursday, 27 November 2025, at Leotori Halls & Lodge, Abule Taylor, Lagos.
According to the organisers, LASU stood out for its impressive strides in digital transformation, strategic deployment of educational technology, and its continuous efforts to enhance learning, research and administrative operations through modern digital systems. The panel also highlighted the university’s strong commitment to digital literacy, improved administrative processes and the use of technology to engage and support its community.
A high-level delegation represented LASU at the event, led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Oseni Taiwo Afisi, who received the award on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM. The team also included the Bursar, Mr Said Babatunde Olayinka (represented by Deputy Bursar, Mr Kunle Adebesho); the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Lawal Adigun; the Director of Internal Audit, Mrs Margareth Ogunkoya; Dr Lateef Sekoni from the Vice-Chancellor’s Office; Dr Lateef Salami, Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor; and the Deputy Registrar/Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations (CIPR), Mrs Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile.
This recognition represents another significant milestone for LASU and aligns with the Vice-Chancellor’s vision of transforming the university into a top-tier African institution known for innovation, excellence and global competitiveness.
The Octagon Champions Award is an annual platform that celebrates institutions and individuals who contribute meaningfully to national growth, human capacity development and social advancement.
