The Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the National Business and Technical Examination Board, Mohammed-Aminu Mohammed, said on Thursday that he plans to improve the conduct of examinations and staff welfare.

In his resumption speech at the headquarters of the exam board in Benin, the NABTEB boss said that the body would begin computer examinations for all its enrollees in 2026.

He also promised to prioritise staff welfare, conducive environment workers, and capacity building, among other things he would bring to the board.

He said he would ensure that the Board key into the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

He said, “As we gather here today, I am reminded of Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasises the importance of technical education in driving national development and economic growth.

“As the Registrar of NABTEB, I am committed to aligning our efforts with this vision, ensuring that our programmes and initiatives contribute to the realisation of this noble goal.”

He added, “The digitisation of the examination would improve the conduct of examinations because the credibility, integrity, and efficiency of our examination processes constitute the bedrock of our existence as an examination body. Any compromise in these areas undermines our fundamental purpose and threatens the value of the certificates we issue.

“We will accelerate the digitisation of our examination processes, from registration to result processing and certificate issuance. This will minimise human errors, reduce processing time, and enhance the overall efficiency of our operations.

“We will deploy advanced security protocols to safeguard the integrity of our examination materials and processes. This includes the use of biometric verification, encrypted question papers, and real-time monitoring systems.”

He said his management would also explore existing grants for technical and vocational education in addition to ensuring reward for hard work and promotion of staff when due.

Earlier, the Director of Special Duties of the NABTEB, Olugbenga Ojogbede, in his welcome address, described as timely the appointment of Dr Mohammed-Aminu Mohammed as the 5th substantive registrar/chief executive officer of NABTEB.

He added, “With your wealth of experience, vision, and dedication, we are confident that you will steer this board to even greater heights. We know that the responsibilities ahead are enormous, but we also know that your passion for technical and vocational education and training and your strategic insights will guide us in fostering a fair and credible examination system.”
