The event, held at a media parley in Lagos, also saw the unveiling of the university’s updated logo, symbolizing its commitment to environmental responsibility and modernization.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Folasade Ogunsola introduced the new buses, which were made and donated by two of the university’s alumni, who own companies Ogata Global Resources and Chart Eco Global Services. “The buses will be used for public transportation. These buses are prepared for sustainable planning. They are using solar and can be charged through electricity,” Ogunsola explained.
She emphasized the importance of maintaining the university’s commitment to good air quality and minimizing pollution. “UNILAG has a good air quality, and we want to maintain that. One of the pollution sources is emissions from cars,” she noted.
In addition to the buses, Ogunsola highlighted the university’s decision to update its logo, stating that the old one no longer represented the brand of UNILAG. “We want our partners and stakeholders to use the updated logo,” she added, marking a new chapter for the institution in its pursuit of sustainability and innovation.
