Here Is What Happens After JAMB at OAU
After your JAMB result comes out, OAU opens their Post-UTME registration window which closes in about a month. You register for their Post-UTME exam. You can write this exam from home or at a centre.
OAU does not use your JAMB score alone to decide your admission. It combines your JAMB score and your Post-UTME score into an aggregate. If your aggregate does not reach the cut-off for your course, you will not be admitted.
After the exam, OAU publishes two separate lists. The first is a general merit list. The second is a departmental list that comes out separately. You need to check both. If you only check the merit list and stop, you could miss your name when it appears on the departmental list later.
When your name appears on either list, you pay your acceptance and medical fees within a fixed window or you lose your space. Then you go to clearance with every document OAU needs. OAU checks every single one. If a document is missing, they will send you back.

JAMB Cut-Off Mark
After Post-UTME, OAU uses a formula that combines your JAMB score and your Post-UTME score to calculate your aggregate. Both have to be strong or your aggregate will not be competitive.

Post-UTME at OAU
OAU runs a Computer-Based Post-UTME that tests you on English Language and subjects specific to the faculty you applied for. The exam is not general. Students who prepare using material from other schools score lower than students who prepared specifically for OAU because the format and difficulty level are different. Some faculties at OAU also have extra screening steps beyond the CBT. You can write this exam from home or at a centre. If you write from home, make sure your setup is reliable. The anti-malpractice software can flag you if it detects movement near your camera or background noise, and a network drop during the exam can end your session. If your home setup is not reliable, you can write from our office in Lagos or a proper cyber cafe.

Why Students Miss OAU Admission
You apply for a course based on OAU’s general minimum of 200, not knowing that the course you want requires a JAMB score of 270 or above before OAU will even consider your application. These are two different numbers.
You prepare for Post-UTME using material meant for other schools. OAU’s exam tests different things at a different level. Students who do this score lower than what they need to be competitive.
You write the Post-UTME from home. Someone walks past your camera or there is noise in the background, and the anti-malpractice software flags you. Or your network drops in the middle of the exam and your session ends.
You check the OAU portal once after Post-UTME and stop. Your name comes out later on the departmental list but you have already moved on. You miss the notification and the acceptance fee window closes.
You go to clearance without the original of every document. OAU sends you back.
OAU’s School Board Can Release a Separate Admission List After All Regular Lists Close
Most students think that once the merit list and departmental list close, admission is completely over. That is not always true. OAU has a School Board that can release its own separate admission list after the regular lists have closed.
This list does not show up on the same portal where the other lists appeared, so students who only checked the main portal will never see it. Most students have already gone home and started making plans to rewrite JAMB by then.
The students who still get admitted at that point are the ones who had someone watching for them and telling them what to do next. We do this for every student we work with.
