UNIBEN’s Post-UTME Has a Reputation. If You Do Not Prepare Specifically for It, Your Score Will Show.
After JAMB results come out, UNIBEN opens a Post-UTME registration window. You register, sit a CBT exam that UNIBEN is known for making more demanding than average, and UNIBEN uses the aggregate of your JAMB score and Post-UTME score to determine admission.
Students who come in having prepared with material from other universities score significantly lower than students who prepared specifically for UNIBEN’s format. A weak Post-UTME at UNIBEN pulls even a strong JAMB score below the departmental threshold for competitive courses.
The other common mistake is applying for Medicine at UNIBEN based on the school’s minimum of 200 without knowing that the faculty’s internal threshold is significantly higher. By the time students find out, they have already spent money on a form that had no realistic chance of success.

UNIBEN’s school minimum is 200. Medicine is among the most competitive at UNIBEN and typically requires scores above 280 before faculty screening. Law and Pharmacy set their own thresholds well above the school minimum. The gap between what UNIBEN publishes as its minimum and what your specific department requires is large for the most popular courses.

Why Students Miss UNIBEN Admission

Missed Direct Admission at UNIBEN? The Pre-Degree Programme Is Your Way In
Some faculties at UNIBEN run a Pre-Degree programme that works like this: you spend one academic year studying at UNIBEN, and if you pass the programme, you move into the full degree the following year. You do not have to rewrite JAMB. You do not have to sit another Post-UTME. You are already inside the university.
The catch is that not every faculty offers this, and the application has its own deadline and requirements that are separate from the regular JAMB process.
Most students who miss direct admission at UNIBEN never even ask whether Pre-Degree is available for their course. They go home and spend a full year preparing for JAMB again when they could have been in school. We help our students find out if this option is available for their course.
