A Good JAMB Score Is Not Enough to Get Into UNILAG

Here Is What Happens After JAMB at UNILAG
After your JAMB result comes out, UNILAG opens a Post-UTME registration window that stays open for about a month. You register online, and then you sit a CBT exam. You can write this exam from home or at a centre.
UNILAG does not use your JAMB score alone to decide your admission. It combines your JAMB score, your Post-UTME score, and your O’Level grades into one number called your aggregate. If your aggregate does not reach the cut-off for your course, you will not be admitted.
After the exam, UNILAG releases the admission list in batches over several weeks. Your name might not appear in the first batch. If you stop checking, you will miss it. When your name does appear, you have a limited number of days to pay your acceptance and medical fees or UNILAG gives your space to someone else.
The last step is clearance. You show up with every document UNILAG asks for. If something is missing, they will send you back.

JAMB Cut-Off Mark
After Post-UTME, UNILAG calculates an aggregate score for each candidate using your JAMB score, your Post-UTME score, and your O’Level results. The admission decision is based on this aggregate, not your JAMB score alone.

Post-UTME at UNILAG
UNILAG runs a Computer-Based Test for Post-UTME. It covers English Language, Mathematics, and two subjects related to the course you applied for. Some important things to know before registering: Law requires Literature-in-English (UNILAG does not accept Music, Fine Arts, or Principles of Accounting for Law). Computer Science requires Further Mathematics. All Engineering courses require Further Mathematics. Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and all clinical courses require Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. You can write this exam from home or at a centre. If you write from home, make sure your setup is reliable. The anti-malpractice software can flag you if it detects movement near your camera or background noise, and a network drop during the exam can end your session. If your home setup is not reliable, you can write from our office in Lagos or a proper cyber cafe.

Why Students Miss UNILAG Admission
You apply for a course at UNILAG and you meet the general minimum of 200. But the course you want has a departmental aggregate cut-off that is much higher. These are two different numbers, and most students do not know that until it is too late.
You wait until Post-UTME registration opens before you start preparing. By then, other students have been studying for weeks and you are starting from behind.
You do not upload your O’Level results to JAMB CAPS before the deadline. This removes your application completely, no matter what you scored.
You write the Post-UTME from home. Someone walks past your camera or there is noise in the background, and the anti-malpractice software flags you. Or your network drops in the middle of the exam and your session ends.
UNILAG releases the admission list in batches. Your name appears in the second or third batch but you stopped checking after the first one. You never see it.
You see your name on the list but you do not pay the acceptance fee on time. UNILAG gives your space to another student.
UNILAG Sometimes Releases a Second Admission List That Most Students Never Knew About
Here is what happens sometimes. UNILAG offers a student admission, but that student does not accept it. When enough students do this in a particular course, UNILAG opens up those spaces for other students.
The problem is that by the time this happens, most students who did not see their name on the main list have already given up and started planning to rewrite JAMB the following year. They are not checking the portal anymore. So the spaces go to students who were still watching.
We monitor the portal for every student we work with, so if extra spaces open up in your course, you hear about it.
