The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. He congratulated Christians across Nigeria and in the diaspora on the occasion of Easter.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged Nigerians to reflect on and practice the values demonstrated by Jesus Christ, including selflessness, forgiveness, patience, and love.
He further urged citizens to remain committed to unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence, noting that these values are essential for national stability and progress.
The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing policies that will promote national renewal, economic development, and shared prosperity for all Nigerians.
He also wished Christians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration.
