The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced a major change in the process of accessing Result Checker PINs for the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates.
According to WAEC, the traditional smart card previously used for checking results has officially been discontinued.
Under the new system, candidates will no longer receive physical smart cards for result checking.
WHAT HAS CHANGED?
WAEC explained that the change is part of its ongoing technological reforms aimed at improving efficiency, security, and examination management.
The Council has now introduced a biometric attendance system to replace the former smart-card-based attendance method.
HOW CANDIDATES WILL ACCESS RESULT CHECKER PINS
Instead of using physical smart cards, candidates will now retrieve their Result Checker PINs online through the official WAEC platform once results are released.
Candidates will only need to provide their examination details through the approved portal to access their PINs.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
• Physical WAEC smart cards will no longer be issued for 2026 WASSCE
• Candidates should keep their examination details safe
• Schools and candidates are advised to follow only official WAEC updates
• The new system does not affect candidates’ ability to check their results
WAEC stated that the new digital process is designed to make result checking easier, faster, and more secure for candidates nationwide.
