Lagos State University (LASU) has officially commenced the sale of application forms for admission into its Pre-Degree Studies (PDS) Programme for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The programme is designed for candidates who want to improve their chances of gaining admission into LASU by preparing for the 2027 UTME while also addressing any deficiencies in their O’Level results.
The LASU Pre-Degree Programme serves as an alternative pathway into the university and provides intensive academic preparation for prospective undergraduate students.
ABOUT THE LASU PRE-DEGREE PROGRAMME
The LASU Pre-Degree Studies (PDS) Programme is a one-year academic programme scheduled to run from October 2026 to September 2027.
The programme is designed to help candidates:
- Prepare adequately for the 2027 UTME.
- Remedy O’Level deficiencies where necessary.
- Build a strong academic foundation before entering the university.
- Increase their chances of securing admission into LASU.
All lectures will take place at the LASU Epe Campus, and the programme is fully residential. Students admitted into the programme are expected to reside in the university hostel throughout the session.

The LASU Pre-Degree Programme gives candidates another opportunity to secure admission into one of Nigeria’s leading state universities.
According to the university, students enrolled in the programme receive intensive classroom teaching, regular CBT practice, and continuous academic support.
LASU also revealed that despite the generally low performance recorded in the 2026 UTME, many Pre-Degree students performed exceptionally well, with a large number scoring 200 and above, while several candidates recorded scores above 300.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must possess at least three (3) credit passes in relevant subjects obtained in WAEC, NECO or GCE at not more than two sittings.

- Chemistry
- Biology
- Government
- Economics
- Literature in English
- Christian Religious Studies (CRS)
- Islamic Religious Studies (IRS)
- Accounting
Qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the university’s qualifying examination.
HOW TO GAIN ADMISSION INTO 100 LEVEL AFTER THE PROGRAMME
Candidates who successfully complete the programme may be considered for admission into LASU provided they:
- Register and sit for the 2027 UTME.
- Meet the minimum UTME score approved by LASU.
- Satisfy the university’s admission screening requirements.
- Obtain all the required O’Level credits before admission.

HOW TO APPLY
Interested applicants should:
- Visit the official LASU application portal.
- Generate an application payment.
- Pay the non-refundable application fee of ₦15,000.
- Complete the online application form.
- Submit and print the application acknowledgement slip.
APPLICATION DEADLINE
The sale of application forms will close six (6) weeks from the date of the official advertisement.
Applicants are advised to complete their registration early to avoid last-minute challenges.
QUALIFYING EXAMINATION
LASU will announce the date, venue, and other details of the qualifying examination at a later time.
Candidates are encouraged to monitor the university portal regularly for updates.
