How to Check Your JAMB 2026 Result
JAMB results usually come out within a few days of the exam. There are two ways to check: by SMS or online. Both give you the same score. But getting your score is only the first part. What you do after is what actually determines whether you get admitted.
Method 1: Check by SMS (Works on Any Phone)
This method works on any phone, including basic phones. You do not need internet access.
Steps:
- Make sure you have at least N50 airtime on the phone number you used when you registered for JAMB
- Open your messaging app
- Type: UTMERESULT (one word, all capital letters, no spaces)
- Send it to 55019 or 66019
- You will receive an SMS with your score for each subject and your total score
Cost: ₦50 is deducted from your airtime.
You must send this from the same phone number you used during JAMB registration. Sending from a different number will not return your result.
If no reply comes after a few minutes, check that you have enough airtime and that you are sending from the correct number. Network delays can sometimes take up to 30 minutes.
Method 2: Check Online Through the JAMB Portal
Steps:
- Go to efacility.jamb.gov.ng
- Log in with the email address and password you used during JAMB registration
- Click "Check UTME Result" or find the results section on your dashboard
- Your score and the breakdown for each subject will be displayed
If you forgot your portal password, click "Forgot Password" on the login page. The reset link will go to the email address you registered with.
Bookmark efacility.jamb.gov.ng now. You will need it again for uploading your O'Level result and checking your admission status.
The result you just checked is not what your school needs.
There are two versions of your JAMB result. The first is the free one you just checked. It shows your score but it has no passport photo on it. Schools will not accept this version at Post-UTME screening, admission registration, or clearance.
The second version is called the JAMB Original Result Slip. It is an official document with your passport photo embedded on it. This is the one your school will ask for. Without it, you cannot complete screening and you cannot register at your school even after gaining admission.
A lot of students find this out when they are already standing at the screening desk with the wrong document.
You need to print the Original Result Slip before you go anywhere near your school.
How to get it yourself:
- Log in to efacility.jamb.gov.ng
- Select "Print Result Slip"
- Pay ₦1,500 on the portal (plus payment gateway charges)
- Download and print the slip
The process sounds simple but many students run into problems. Portal login failures. Payment that goes through but the slip does not load. Forgotten passwords. If you are in the middle of a Post-UTME deadline, these problems cost you more than just time.
Gift Consult prints your JAMB Original Result Slip for you through the correct JAMB channels. No portal stress. You get the right document, ready to submit.

Get Your Original Result SlipWhat Does Your Score Actually Mean?
Your score is the first thing schools look at. Here is the general picture:
- 180 and above: You meet JAMB's basic minimum to apply to a university. But this is just the starting point.
- 200 to 249: Good enough for many state universities and a range of federal university courses.
- 250 to 299: Competitive for most courses at federal universities including LASU, UNILAG, UI, and similar schools.
- 300 and above: A strong score. You are in contention for competitive courses like Medicine, Law, and Engineering at top schools.
Two things to understand:
First, JAMB sets a general minimum score just to qualify. But your school has its own cut-off on top of that. And your specific department has its own cut-off on top of the school's. All three have to be cleared, in that order. A student who scores 220 and applies to a school that requires 240 for their course does not get considered, even though they passed JAMB's minimum. That is where a lot of students lose their chance without understanding why.
Second, your score and your O'Level combination both have to match what your course requires. A good score with the wrong subjects gets you nowhere. The right subjects with a score that is too low gets you nowhere either.
And after all of that, you still have to pass your school's screening. Some schools call it Post-UTME. Others do a direct screening process. Either way, your score alone does not guarantee admission.
What If Something Is Wrong With Your Result?
"Result Withheld"
JAMB has flagged your result for review. Possible reasons include a suspected irregularity, a data issue, or a biometric problem at the exam centre. Withheld does not mean cancelled. JAMB will communicate what to do next. Do not pay anyone who tells you they can fix a withheld result for money. That is a scam.
"Candidate Absent"
You are showing as absent even though you were physically at the exam centre and wrote the exam. Take your registration slip and go to the nearest JAMB office immediately.
Result not showing at all
Results come out in batches. If your exam just ended, wait 24 to 48 hours and try again. If it has been more than a week and nothing is showing, visit an accredited JAMB CBT centre or JAMB office.
Your Result Is Out. Do This First.
Before you think about school forms or Post-UTME, there is one thing you need to do immediately.
Print your JAMB Original Result Slip.
Not the free SMS result. Not the score on your phone screen. The official document with your passport photo on it. Your school will ask for it at Post-UTME registration, at screening, and at clearance. Students who show up without it get turned away.
If you have not printed it yet, do that now.
Gift Consult prints it for you through the correct JAMB channels for N3,000. No portal stress. You get the right document, ready to submit.
